About the Band

We are Landrush, a local KC band that hits the stage with tons of energy, tight vocal harmonies and awesome instrumentalists. We play rock, pop, country, and blues cover tunes, with our own take on artists from the Eagles and Queen to Little Big Town and Bruno Mars, even Lady GaGa. We have an extensive song list with a lot of variety and a great crowd that travels to our shows.

Though grounded by such strong roots as friendship and family, Landrush is a musical group that comes together for the love of music – and it shows in the band’s harmonious sound. With a specialty in southern rock, pop, and country tunes, Landrush entertains with energy and charisma, enjoying every moment on stage together.

Singers (and sisters) Betsy Ostrander and Katie Young grew up in a musical household singing two parts in the backseat of the car ever since they can remember. Drummer Bobby Hapgood has been inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame with the long-running group, King Midas – and adds impressive drumstick acrobatics to every show. The talent of bassist Curt Bittner is only surpassed by his passion for bringing fans to the dance floor. And the impressive electric guitar of Steve Taylor, honed by playing with several of the top bands in KC, creates the irresistible groove of all your favorite songs. With expertise of multi-instrumentalist Phil Ashley added to this charismatic mix, Landrush crafts its own unique blend of “Kansas drinking music.”

The band has come together for events such as Jazzoo, the American Royal BBQ, and the Walnut Valley Music Festival, as well as numerous corporate and charity gigs, all the while coordinating the demanding work and family schedules of its members. Landrush has a wonderful following of friends, family, and fans – and looks forward to seeing you at their next event!
